Micrograph Competition
IMC17 will award prizes to beautiful images captured by a microscope. Both students and professionals may participate.
Categories
The competition will be divided into 6 categories:
- Electron Microscopy - Materials Sciences
- Electron Microscopy - Life Sciences
- Light Microscopy - Materials Sciences
- Light Microscopy - Life Sciences
- Scanning Probe Microscopy and other forms of Microscopy - Materials Sciences
- Scanning Probe Microscopy and other forms of Microscopy - Life Sciences
First and second place will be awarded for each category.
Rules
a) Entries should be submitted by September 15th.
b) Contestants must be registered conference attendees.
c) Micrographs must be submitted in electronic form. Micrographs should be provided in a .jpg file, size 20 X 24 cm (maximum of 2MB) with resolution of 150 - 300 dpi (please avoid 72 dpi); Image without compression.
d) Micrograph entries must be of a single image taken with a microscope.
e) Contestants must submit a completed Entry Form through the submission system with the following data: category; title of the micrograph; brief description containing technical information and author's details.
f) Only online enrollments of unpublished micrographs will be accepted.
g) Entries are limited to 2 per person.
The entries will be judged both from the scientific and artistic standpoints.
Prizes
Prizes will be kindly donated by the Brazilian Society for Microscopy and Microanalysis and
First place: BRL 400
Second place: BRL 200
The winners will be announced during IMC17 and will also receive the "IMC17 OUTSTANDING MICROGRAPH" certificate.
